Satara Ehnes is a Julesburg High School senior and daughter of Kimberly and Shawn Ehnes. During her highschool career Saara earned her Associate of Arts Degree from Northeastern Junior College. When asked how this helped her she stated “This accomplishment not only allowed me to further my educational platform, but to jumpstart my journey to becoming a doctor. By obtaining my Associate’s Degree, I was able to get all of my general education courses out of the way, allowing me to enroll as a junior this upcoming school year.”
Satara is a very dedicated person in the classroom and on the court, she participated in basketball, volleyball, and track, when asked about her favorite/most memorable moment from her 4 years attending Julesburg High School she stated, “I have made several memorable moments over the last four years at Julesburg High School; however, I have to say the ones that are most memorable to me, is having the opportunity to play my last two high school sports seasons, volleyball and basketball, on the court with my sister, Kierra.”
Throughout High School Satara has been dealt some tough cards, but she pushed through and still participated in a multitude of extra curricular activities such as holding leadership positions in each of them: including Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Student Council, National Honor Society (NHS), our Community Leadership Team, National Society of High School Scholars, Class Council, varsity volleyball and basketball player for the last four years, starter and captain for both varsity volleyball and basketball for the last three, and a member of the track team for her first two years of high school.
Satara was asked what her favorite/ most memorable moment from all of her extra curricular activities was and she stated, “Throughout my four years, I have to say that I enjoyed playing sports the most! There was nothing like playing on our home court each week, stepping on to the floor and hearing your shoes squeak, the smell of popcorn filling the air, the fans cheering, and the band playing!”
When asked what she would miss the most about High School after graduation Satara stated “I have to say that the thing that I will miss most after I graduate, is the network of support that I have built over the years, my family, teachers, friends, co-workers, coaches and mentors who have helped to mold me into who I am today. While I know they will ALWAYS be there for me, I will miss knowing that I can walk right down the hall or street to see or chat with them, I will miss seeing them on a daily basis!
Upon graduating from Julesburg High School with her Honors Diploma, Satara will have also obtained her Associate of Arts Degree from Northeastern Junior College. She will be attending Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska as a Pre-Medical student majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish. Upon completion of all undergraduate classes at Nebraska Wesleyan University, she aspires to be accepted into the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where she will complete medical school and obtain her Doctorate Degree. Following the completion of my Residency, she plans on returning to a small rural community to start her medical career.
