Second graders are learning about standard and nonstandard units of measurement by measuring the classroom head to foot and discussing which way is more accurate.

We were proud to welcome the mayor of Julesburg, Mr. Hoschouer, to second grade to teach us his duties and the duties of the town. We learned what protocols are taken when issues arrive. This matched up well with both our social studies standards and our main story in reading. Thank you again Mr. Mayor for coming to our class and all you do for our town.

Indoor running club kept our runners active on a cold day 😊

Congratulations to Megan Lindsay for her 1st place finish in the individual Horse Judging CDE (Career Development Event) event for Julesburg FFA!
Hee Yeal Lee placed 10th place in the individual Food Science CDE for Julesburg FFA. Way to Go!
The FFA CDE events are a way students can showcase knowledge of agriculture content areas, develop critical thinking/effective decision-making skills, and to promote communication of ideas. The CDE events occur at the local, state, and national levels. The students on these CDE judging teams will continue to study, practice, and participate in horse judging and food science, this spring, hosted by local schools. The Julesburg FFA CDE teams will then participate in state CDEs in May, at Colorado State University.

2/24-2/29/20 Activity Calendar

Ever wonder what goes on in an after-school teacher (staff) meeting? Here, the JES Teacher Impact Teams are using a student work analysis protocol to determine where students need more support and enrichment along with discussing ideas for adjusting instructional practice with other teachers. This protocol helps teachers better understand how students experience the tasks given and how the grade level learning intentions are reflected in student responses.

Thank you to the Missoula Children’s Theater Leaders and the Hippodrome for the great workshop on comedy for our students. Also...nice work up there Pat Pepperjack (aka Mrs. Harens).
