In honor of Veteran's Day, the Junior High School Career Explorations class interviewed Veteran Air Force Master Sergeant Don Kizer under the guidance of Mrs. Monette . On Wednesday, November 11th at 2 pm, please join the students and staff of Julesburg School District on Cedar Street for a reverse parade honoring our local Veterans. Don Kizer joined the Air Force with a friend after graduating high school in 1952. He enjoyed the Air Force so much that he stayed in it for 21 years. He was a missile engineer technician that helped build missiles. This was important because it was during the time of the Cold War. His favorite was the Thor Missile. He also helped launch several satellites. He served his time in the Air Force in several different places including, California, New York, Illinois, France, Colorado Springs, Germany, Hawaii, and Johnson Island. While in the Air Force, he earned the Meritory of Service Award. Mr. Kizer, we thank you for your service!

A Message from Sedgwick County’s Athletic Director: Good Evening Cougar Fans, Next week's schedule is going to look a lot different. Monday, our HS football team will be playing Holly in Limon at 5:00PM. This will replace the game that got cancelled tonight. The junior high game that was scheduled for Tuesday will be moved to Thursday at 4:00PM in Merino. Friday's high school game with Merino might be moved to Saturday, depending on officials. I will get out information as I get it. I am sorry for all the changes and issues that come along with the changes.

Julesburg School District Veterans Day Parade in Reverse Parade Format COVID-19 restrictions will not preclude the Julesburg School District from honoring our Veterans this year. Though we will not be able to gather in-person, in the gymnasium to honor you personally, we will be providing you several days of dedications, tributes, and messages of appreciation via the Julesburg School District’s Facebook page. Those tributes are scheduled to begin posting on November 2nd and we will continue to post daily through November 11th. In addition, on Wednesday, November 11th @ 2:00 p.m. we will host a Reverse Parade in your honor. All students, staff, and administrative personnel from the Julesburg School District will stand stationary along Cedar Street beginning at 10th Street and continue to Hwy 138. We encourage all community members and businesses to join us in this event. The Veterans will be the ones driving down the street as we honor them. Veterans – feel free to show up in your vintage beauties / hot rods / sports cars to share with the rest of us as you drive that route, starting at 10th Street (just north of the hospital) southbound on Cedar Street to Hwy 138. Slow your roll a bit when you get to 6th & Cedar and take in some patriotic music performed by the Julesburg High School Band (weather permitting). Take your time absorbing your community on the sidelines as they show their deepest appreciation and gratitude toward you for your service!!! All Veterans planning to participate in the parade please add your name in the comments on this post or call the Julesburg High School (970) 474-3364. Thank you Veterans!!
