Dear Julesburg community members, parents, staff, and students, As you may be aware, we are in the process of recruiting a new Superintendent for the upcoming school year as a result of our current Superintendent retiring after 25 years of service with our school district. We invite you to participate in a brief survey to share your thoughts as we engage in the search process for our next Superintendent. Your feedback will play a key role in helping us understand what qualities and priorities are most important in our efforts to maintain and enhance the high quality of education our community has come to expect. The survey will close on January 27th. Survey Link - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JulesburgCO Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, as we work together to make sure our school district continues to be a great source of pride for our students, staff, parents, and community. Sincerely, Julesburg Re-1 Board of Education

Did you know that learning through play is one of the best ways for preschoolers to develop essential skills? 🌟 Whether they're solving patterns or stacking and counting block towers, each fun activity helps enhance their learning. Focusing on the whole child, bonus learning takes place as they practice fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination at snack time! 🥕🍎

This week, our 4th graders had a special guest—high school intern Katelyn! She joined the class to help students dive deeper into understanding place value. The students loved learning from someone closer to their age, and Katelyn did a fantastic job inspiring them. A big thank you to Katelyn for sharing her time and talent with us!

This week, our Pre-K kids dove into numbers 13, 14, and 15! 🌟 They had so much fun tracing the numbers and building towers of 10 linking cubes, adding 3, 4, or even 5 extra cubes to complete their numbers. 🤗 The best part? They compared their towers to ensure they had the right count!

Show Choir students have been hard at work rehearsing their pieces for the Festival that they will participate in next month. Students were first tasked with choosing a theme and 3 songs. Now they are learning the lyrics and choreography. We can't wait to perform! 💃🏻🕺🏻

Today, our students engaged in an exciting hands-on activity in personal finance! They worked in small groups and rolled a dice to determine which interview question they would tackle. They had the opportunity to grade each other's verbal responses, providing constructive feedback and honing their skills.

Amazing things happen when the community comes together! Our second graders had a wonderful opportunity to create snowflake crafts alongside residents at the assisted living center. We deeply value this special connection and look forward to partnering with the residents again soon!

As we return from break, we’ve spent some time focusing on important teach-tos—reminders of school expectations and routines to help students smoothly transition back after a two-week break. Through our play-based, developmentally appropriate program, students explore spatial relationships, sequencing, patterns, self-help, and peer interactions—all through the power of play. (And yes, we also had some fun in the snow!) When we walk down the hallway we can earn a spin of the wheel to decide a fun way to make the trek...our spin can prompt us to become sharks, fish, queens/kings, marshmallows, butterflies, eagles, etc.

Our 8th graders have been diving into the exciting world of graphing equations! Today, they practiced not only graphing on paper but also utilizing online platforms to visualize their equations. The highlight? Finding the point of intersection! This skill is crucial as it helps students understand how to solve systems of equations and see where two lines meet.

Our talented 2nd and 6th graders joined forces for a watercolor art session! These young artists brought their imaginations to life as they prepared pieces for January’s Bank Art display at Points West Bank. Stop by to see their amazing work this month—it’s a beautiful celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community. We’re so proud of our students for making art that shines! #ArtInTheCommunity #WatercolorMagic #CreativeKids
